‘Where’s Waldo?’ Fugitive Trolls Police On Social Media, Turns Himself In Over Facebook Live

A man who taunted police by posing as the famous character from “Where’s Waldo?” turned himself into police while live streaming on Facebook Monday.
British authorities used helicopters and detection dogs to locate 30-year-old JJ McMenamin of Leyburn, North Yorkshire, but had no luck, according to The Telegraph.
The fugitive seemed to enjoy his evasive activities, posting a photo depicting himself as Waldo with the accompanying caption, “Dude.. I’m right here.”
McMenamin’s Facebook profile picture was changed Monday to a picture of himself dressed in Waldo’s unique garb, which includes the famously distinct red and white striped beanie and sweater, along with the thick-framed black glasses. McMenamin’s cover photo on his Facebook profile was also changed to a picture of Waldo (known as “Wally” in the U.K.) apparently being booked by police with the caption “JJ” and “Hide Seek Champion 2016-17.” His Facebook “Intro” also says “Hide and seek champion” with an extremely happy emoji.
McMenamin live streamed his surrender to authorities on Facebook, giving “shout-outs” to all of his friends along the way.
“I’ll keep my head up. I’m always smiling, entertaining the nation on a daily basis,” McMenamin can be heard saying. “I’ll reply back to all of the messages later on when I get out.” (RELATED: Alleged Gang Member Arrested After Exposing Witnesses On Facebook For ‘Ratting’)
It is not yet clear what his punishment will likely be.
“A 30-year-old man from Middleham has been arrested after he handed himself in to officers at Harrogate Police Station,” a North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said, according to The Telegraph.
“The arrest comes after extensive police searches for the man over the weekend, after he failed to turn up for a court hearing for driving offences.”
