Trump Calls Out Toyota For Plans To Build In Mexico

President-elect Donald Trump blasted Toyota Motor Corp. Thursday afternoon over plans to build a new plant in Baja, Mexico.

“Toyota Motor said will build a new plant in Baja, Mexico, to build Corolla cars for U.S. NO WAY! Build plant in U.S. or pay big border tax,” the president-elect said via Twitter

Toyota President Akio Toyoda said Wednesday he’d take Trump’s decisions into account when planning for the automakers Mexico operations, according to Bloomberg.

Ford Motor Co. announced Tuesday that it cancelled plans to build a new plant in Baja, Mexico, and will instead invest $700 million in the United States, and create 700 jobs. (RELATED: Ford CEO Cancels Plan For Mexico Plant)

Ford’s CEO stressed that the investment was a “vote of confidence” in the pro-business environment being created by, but also said that Ford did not cut a deal with the president-elect.
