Russian Military Outraged At Charlie Hebdo

Russian military officials and politicians blasted Charlie Hebdo for publishing satirical cartoons of a recent Russian military plane crash.

A Russian military plane veered off course and crashed in the Black Sea on Christmas Day, killing all 92 people on board, including 64 members of the Red Army Choir. (RELATED: Read The Terrifying Last Words Of A Russian Pilot As Plane Crashes Into Ocean)

Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical magazine, published images of the disaster, poking fun at Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Red Army Choir.

Another picture showed a singer, bellowing “Ahhh” as the airplane plunges to the earth.

“It is humiliating for a normal person even to pay attention to this labored filth,” Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, a Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, said in a statement. He described the images as “excrement.”

“I have previously said and now repeat, that the editorial policy of the journal is immoral and inhuman,” Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Chechnya, a region of Russia, said in an Instagram post.

Ten journalists and two policemen were killed in January, 2015, when three gunman stormed the French satirical magazine offices in Paris. Al-Qaida in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack, asserting that it was revenge for Charlie Hebdo’s multiple depictions of the Prophet Mohammad.
