Thurgood Marshall, Jr., son of late Justice Thurgood Marshall, said he “max’d out” on Clinton donations, according to an e-mail released through WikiLeaks Tuesday.

John Podesta, chairman of the Hillary 2016 campaign, wrote an e-mail to Thurgood Marshall, Jr. in July, 2015, where he asks Marshall: “You involved in the Hillary stuff?” Podesta is testing the waters for a possible donation. Marshall is a partner at the top-tier D.C. law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, with an estimated yearly intake of nearly $400,000.

Marshall replies to Podesta saying he “has done about all that I’m capable of that would be of value to HRC,” noting he already “max’ed out earlier this year,” in campaign donations.

“I’m happy to be helpful especially if you need anything,” Marshall adds.

He posits that it might be more beneficial for the campaign to reach out to his wife, who “sold her business a month ago and has free time.”

Marshall notes that his wife is “not political but is a supporter so she may be a useful catch if there are some opportunities for a smart retiree who created her own business.”

Podesta forwards it to Angelique Cannon-Harris, then deputy national finance director for the mid-Atlantic, where he says, “See below from my friend Goody Marshall. I don’t think I really know his wife (knew his ex), but might try to scope out whether it’s worth trying to get her involved.”

Marshall gave at least $2,700 to Hillary Clinton from May to June, 2015.
