House Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform voted overwhelmingly against formally holding Brian Pagliano in contempt Thursday.
Pagliano is the key witness in the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the Clinton email server, and was granted immunity by the FBI in return for his testimony. Pagliano was the IT tech who installed the server and had full access to hundreds of classified emails.

The committee successfully voted to hold Pagliano in contempt, but solely along partisan lines. Nineteen Republicans voted for the motion, and 14 Democrats voted against the motion.
.@jasoninthehouse: Mr. Pagliano is a key fact witness in our investigation of Sec. Clinton’s use of a private server to conduct gov business

House Democrats, including Rep. Elijah Cummings, dismissed the committee proceedings as purely political, saying that the only reason for the committee to still look into Clinton’s emails is an attempt to harm the Democratic nominee’s chances in November.
.@RepCummings: This is nothing but a blatantly partisan Republican attack on the Democratic candidate for President

.@RepCummings: I cannot vote for a resolution that’s potentially so unethical it could subject Members or our staff to disciplinary action
