A video clip of the Obama administration’s $400 million payment to Iran surfaced on the internet showing a cash payment around the same time four U.S. hostages were released.
Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump responded Thursday, claiming he had seen a video of the $400 million payment being unloaded in Iran while speaking in Maine. Trump walked back his comments Friday, explaining he had actually seen the plane carrying the hostages land in Geneva, not the cash.

The clip is part of an Iranian documentary originally aired on Feb. 15, about one month after the money transfer and subsequent hostage release. According to BBC Persian reporter Hadi Nili, the clip says that the pallet was only a small part of the “expensive price” the U.S. paid for the hostages.
The plane I saw on television was the hostage plane in Geneva, Switzerland, not the plane carrying $400 million in cash going to Iran!

President Obama and his administration have reiterated several times that the payment was not a ransom, even though Iranian officials claimed the opposite in January.
