Bernie Sanders supporters were hauled off in handcuffs at the Democratic National Convention Monday as protests began to heat up.
“Welcome to Philly!” journalist Jason Lipshutz tweeted, along with photos of police making arrests at a protest. “Bernie protesters getting arrested.”

Sanders supporters were also upset on the eve of the convention as Democratic National Committee emails leaked out, showing the party conspired with Hillary Clinton’s campaign to oust him from the primaries. It was a devastating blow as the party strives to present a united front.
One apparently worried police officer told a Daily Caller News Foundation reporter to “wear a vest,” before heading in the direction of the protests. “If you’re going that way, wear a vest,” the officer said.
Protesters reportedly tried to block delegate buses from traveling to the Wells Fargo Center for the start of the convention, and booed at the mere mention of Clinton’s name.

Bernie protesters are blocking delegate buses, chanting over speakers & booing every mention of Hillary's name—incl. during prayer. Insane.

Organizers apparently struggled to handle the logistics at the start of the convention Monday. Attendees voiced frustration with the confusion to staff. “Who’s in charge?” one man was overheard yelling at a hapless employee, while another said “No one knows what they’re doing here.”
It’s a chaotic start for the party hoping to present an orderly, united front against Republican nominee Donald Trump.
