Rep. Dave Brat of Virginia introduced a resolution Thursday that would require the government to create a master spreadsheet containing appropriations and budget information over the course the past 10 fiscal years.
The legislative proposal – which was cosponsored by Reps. Justin Amash of Michigan, Mo Brooks of Alabama, Brian Babin of Texas, Walter Jones of North Carolina and Reid Ribble Wisconsin – calls for the Appropriations Committee to organize the information it already possesses on Congressional spending programs.
The online spreadsheet would “be kept up-to-date and provided on the public web site of the committee in a downloadable, searchable, and sortable format,” according to the resolution’s text.
It has since been referred to the House Committee on Rules for consideration.
