A federal grand jury has indicted three people in connection with the April 11 assault on Turning Point USA Frontlines reporter Savanah Hernandez, the Department of Justice said.

The assault of Hernandez on April 11 near the Whipple Federal Building in St. Paul was caught on video later posted by the TPUSA journalist on X, prompting Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet K. Dhillon to say, “On it” in response. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the indictment in a Wednesday afternoon post on X. (RELATED: Video Shows Assault On Conservative Journalist Being Planned In Advance)

Today, Christopher, Deyanna, and Paige Ostrouchko were indicted by a grand jury for allegedly assaulting journalist and Turning Point USA contributor Savannah Hernandez, while she was lawfully reporting on anti-ICE protests outside a federal building in St. Paul,” Blanche said. “Hernandez was allegedly surrounded, physically assaulted, and shoved to the ground — simply because she was identified by the defendants as a conservative journalist. That is NOT ‘peaceful protest.’ These deplorable actions as charged in the indictment will not be tolerated in America, and this Department of Justice will always punish unhinged acts of political violence.”

Hernandez identified a father and daughter as being involved in the attack where she was punched, shoved and thrown to the ground repeatedly by the angry mob, later reporting in a follow-up post that she was suffering from a headache and stiff neck after the incident.

“A federal grand jury has decided to bring indictments against two of the violent protesters who assaulted me in Minneapolis,” Hernandez posted Wednesday. “No word yet on which of the three are being indicted, but I’m EXTREMELY grateful to the DOJ for moving so swiftly on this[.] Justice is coming.”

Hernandez expressed gratitude for the indictments after Blanche made the announcement of the three.

“Thank you so much for your swift action in this case,” she said in a reply to Blanche. “I truly cannot express how grateful I am, not only behalf of myself, but also every single American this sets precedent for.”

video posted April 13 appears to show the attack on Hernandez being planned, and the father is seen telling his daughter, a soccer player at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, to get the whistle from the car and to blow the whistle in Hernandez’s ear prior to Hernandez being attacked.

Blowing a whistle into a person’s ear can cause temporary or permanent hearing loss by damaging the cochlea, which are hairs inside the inner ear, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Hernandez and the Department of Justice did not respond to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
