Podcaster Holds Josh Shapiro’s Feet To Fire Over Broken Ties With John Fetterman

Podcast host Sam Fragoso pressed Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro on why he does not talk to Democratic Sen. John Fetterman during a Sunday episode of “Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso.”

Fetterman reportedly undermined Shapiro by lobbying against him to be former Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate in 2024. Fragoso said on his show that Fetterman wrote in his 2025 book “Unfettered” that he and Shapiro do not speak, asking the governor why that was the case.

“Yeah, you got to ask him. I mean, I’ve got no beef with John,” Shapiro said. “I didn’t write about him in my book other than, you know, where we would pass an event or what have you.”

“But you’re one half of an equation,” Fragoso retorted.

Despite Fragoso’s push, Shapiro responded that he should ask Fetterman instead.

“Yeah. I don’t know. John’s got a lot of questions that I think he needs to answer for the people of Pennsylvania,” the governor said. “I think there’s a lot of people who want to know kind of what happened, why he does some of the things he does. So maybe you can add this to the list of questions for him.”

Shapiro also suggested their lack of communication did not hamper their jobs.

“I will tell you, when it comes to governing, I mean, we were in a meeting not too long ago with Secretary [Sean] Duffy, the Secretary of Transportation, about an important transportation issue in our state,” he said. “I mean, our staffs work together. Like, look, if I need to go to a U.S. senator for something, of course, we’re going to go to his office, work with him, work with our other senators, [Republican] Senator [Dave] McCormick, and we’re going to do what we got to do to help Pennsylvania.”

However Fragoso said Shapiro and Fetterman not talking was “not helpful” for Pennsylvanians.

“Again, it’s not really my beef here,” Shapiro said.

Fragoso asked Shapiro if he was “open to talking” to Fetterman. He asserted he was and would “talk to anybody.”

Harris ultimately selected Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz over Shapiro, who was previously rumored to be her top choice for a running mate.

The former vice president wrote in her 2025 book “107 Days” that Shapiro one was one of her top three choices, but she passed on selecting him due to his “unrealistic expectations.” However, Shapiro indicated in his January book “Where We Keep the Light” that she may have snubbed him because he was Jewish.

Fetterman has frequently differentiated himself from others in his party, including by visiting President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence and opposing government shutdowns. He has also clashed with his party on issues related to Israel and Iran.

Moreover, Shapiro has not given firm answers when asked whether he would support Fetterman if he chose to run for a second Senate term, Politico reported in February.

Fetterman also declined to rule out a 2028 presidential run during an April episode of “The Chuck ToddCast.” Shapiro is also considered a potential Democratic 2028 presidential contender.
