Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Monday scoffed at Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s suggestion that calling on Somalis to assimilate is Nazi rhetoric.

Omar said on “Face the Nation” on Sunday that Stephen Miller, the White House’s deputy chief of staff for policy, used rhetoric similar to that of Nazis after he warned of the consequences from allowing migrants from “failed states” into the U.S. McEnany, on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” said that Omar’s accusation is “shameful rhetoric” that is putting Miller and other conservatives in danger.

Yeah, I mean, she accuses Stephen of being a Nazi,” McEnany said. “Stephen’s Jewish, first of all. Stephen’s a great person. Stephen’s someone who loves this country and is working hard for it. And Stephen and his family have been totally and completely under fire and accosted with all kinds of threats for doing what they’re doing. It was the day after Charlie Kirk’s assassination that Katie Miller was stormed by someone outside of her home who said, ‘I’m watching you.’ There were wanted signs up by their home in Virginia, accusing him of crimes against humanity.”

“They have been under threat. And as Stephen Miller said, it’s an organized campaign of dehumanization, vilification. And that’s what this is. It’s organized. They’re being called Nazis. It’s just not Ilhan Omar. It is others too. And it is shameful rhetoric that should be toned down,” McEnany continued.

McEnany also stated that immigrants need to go through an assimilation process where they love and appreciate the U.S. and its values.

You know, we love immigrants who come to this country, but we need an assimilation process. We need a fervor. You could have your own culture, that’s fine. But a fervor for the American dream, a love for this country, an appreciation for taxpayer dollars, an appreciation for the values that bind us together despite our different cultures, backgrounds, languages, et cetera,” McEnany said.

Omar has downplayed the crimes committed by Somalis, including allegedly funneling welfare money in Minnesota to send to Al-Shabaab, a terrorist organization responsible for the deaths of at least 11 Americans. Federal prosecutors have secured convictions of 59 individuals, most of whom are Somalis, in a case involving more than $1 billion in stolen taxpayer funds from state and federal social programs.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) launched an aggressive operation in Minneapolis and St. Paul to deport Somali nationals. The enforcement came after President Donald Trump told reporters that he did not want Somalis and other third-worlders in the country.

Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz called the operation a “PR stunt” that is “indiscriminately targeting immigrants.” State officials have accused Walz of bearing responsibility for the “cascade of systemic failures” by “willfully” disregarding “rules and laws to keep fraud reports quiet.”

Trump called Walz “seriously retarded” in a Nov. 27 Truth Social post, stating that the governor did nothing to stop Somalis from stealing and misusing taxpayer dollars.
