Missouri Republican Rep. Mark Alford asked for a classified briefing from the federal government on Thursday regarding a Chinese government-tied trailer park that shares a fence with Whiteman Air Force Base, according to a letter exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Alford’s letter requests information on whether or not the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) had reviewed the 2017 purchase of the Knob Noster Trailer Park, which is located directly north of the base in rural Missouri. The trailer park is owned by a web of shell companies ultimately controlled by Esther Mei and Cheng Hu, a Canadian couple who belong to organizations led by disgraced Chinese tycoon and self-described former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) intelligence “affiliate,” Miles Guo, the DCNF reported on Nov. 10, 2025.
“I write to you today with great concern regarding a report from the Daily Caller that Knob Noster Trailer Park, located less than a mile from Whiteman Air Force Base, is potentially owned by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) affiliates,” wrote Alford, whose district includes Whiteman AFB. “As you know, Whiteman Air Force Base is home to the B-2 Stealth Bomber and plays a vital role in our national defense as one-third of our nuclear triad. Any potentially foreign ownership of land directly next to one-third of our nuclear triad is deeply concerning, and its ownership by a potential CCP intelligence operative is a grave threat to national security.”
A spokesperson for Whiteman AFB declined to comment and referred the DCNF to the Department of War, who did not respond by the time of publication. The Treasury Department also did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.
“According to the report, Knob Noster Trailer Park is owned by a Chinese Canadian couple who are vocal members of the ‘New Federal State of China,’ and other organizations controlled by Miles Guo, an alleged CCP intelligence affiliate,” Alford’s letter continues.
Mei and Hu have hosted multiple shows for the New Federal State of China, which is a purported political movement to “take down” the CCP that Guo launched in 2017, the DCNF reported. While NFSC characterizes Guo as “the CCP’s number one enemy,” the mogul has repeatedly acknowledged having had close ties with Chinese intelligence arms and was found guilty of orchestrating an over $1 billion fraud conspiracy in July 2024.
The couple’s ownership of the trailer park and their ties to Guo were allegedly unknown to Whiteman AFB’s former commander, Alford said on Tuesday during an interview on NewsNation’s “On Balance With Leland Vittert.”

They hidden behind multiple shell companies to pull it off.

During the NewsNation interview, Alford said that the federal government could better protect its military assets with his proposed bill, the American Land and Property Protection Act, which would prohibit members of foreign adversarial nations, like China, from owning land on U.S. soil.
“Congressman Alford’s reforms are overdue and must be the start of a complete overhaul of how our states and domestic security agencies treat Communist China’s infiltration,” Michael Lucci, founder and CEO of State Armor, told the DCNF.
State Armor provided information to the DCNF for use in its recent investigation.
“It’s no accident that China’s agents are prepositioned near our most integral military installations and critical infrastructure across the country,” Lucci said. “For starters, CFIUS needs to unwind any CCP property ownership near Whiteman. Communist China cannot be allowed to buy any more American property going forward. In addition, we need to scour their current American holdings for security threats, kick all CCP agents out of the country, remove their technologies from our systems, and prepare to defend ourselves against the sabotage Beijing is obviously planning.”

“They’re reviewing billion-dollar foreign acquisitions, not shell-company land grabs positioned next to nuclear-bomber bases,” Eads said.
Yet, the proposed bill would still most likely not have stopped the acquisition of the Knob Noster Trailer Park, according to Eads, because Mei and Hu appear to be Canadian citizens.
“Recent cases show the CCP operating far outside traditional oversight, using students to steal agricultural seeds, leveraging U.S. businesses for money laundering, running illegal police stations in major cities, acquiring land next to missile fields and bomber bases through shell companies, infiltrating state-level political offices, and positioning Chinese military–linked companies inside the U.S. economy — yet America still has no homeland-level counterintelligence strategy to address these threats,” Eads said.
