MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski claimed Tuesday that former President Donald Trump’s “disgusting, hateful” rhetoric “upended the lives” of people in Springfield, Ohio, when discussing illegal immigration.
Trump held a rally in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Monday, where he vowed an end to flying migrants into the United States during his remarks, according to Newsweek. Brzezinski accused Trump of saying “disgusting, hateful things” at the rally and other occasions when discussing how Springfield has struggled to handle the influx of over 20,000 migrants from Haiti under the Biden-Harris administration.
“There were so many disgusting, hateful things in there, it’s hard to keep up,” Brzezinski said to “Morning Joe” co-host and husband Joe Scarborough. “I know we’re focused on foreign policy, but if I can just say, his comments about Springfield, yeah, Springfield has never been the same since Donald Trump and J.D. Vance and their violent rhetoric has wreaked chaos, havoc, fear, and upended the lives of countless people in that town.”

Trump and his running mate, Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, amplified unconfirmed reports of pets being stolen and eaten in the town by Haitian immigrants via social media and during the Sept. 10 debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Springfield residents previously told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the influx of migrants contributed to an increase in traffic accidents and skyrocketing housing prices.
“Ohio’s Republican governor wrote an op-ed, asking Donald Trump and J.D. Vance to stop, explaining the damage they have done to Springfield and speaking up for the legal Haitian immigrants who live in Springfield, who add to the economy, who add to the society, who are good people,” Brzezinski continued. “It was very, very clear what is going on in Springfield is at the hands of Donald Trump and J.D. Vance and that violent rhetoric.”
Local pastor and homeless advocate Barron Seelig previously told the DCNF that he was having more difficulty finding housing for the homeless in Springfield due to the arrival of the Haitian migrants, who he said had “invaded” the “sleepy” city. Shoplifting and auto theft have skyrocketed in Springfield, according to police data obtained from a records request made by the DCNF.
Residents blamed the city’s struggles with the migrants on the Biden administration, with some requesting anonymity due to fears of retaliation.
