The Russian Defense Ministry fired a test cruise missile which careened off course and hit a set of apartments, sparking a fire.

Residents of the small village Nyonoksa were evacuated in enough time to avoid injuries or casualties. Nyonoksa is located in the northwest of Russia about 24 miles west of a naval base at Severodvinsk, the Russian News Agency reports.

The missile was fired as part of a test launch. Military investigators soon arrived on the scene Tuesday and determined that the missile had damaged the roof of the apartment building, as well as four apartments.

It is unknown exactly what type of missile was fired, though the Defense Ministry is currently trying to figure out what went wrong.
