Reporters Appear Jump For Joy After Paris Treaty Is Signed

Journalists appeared to jump up and down and shout Saturday afternoon after hearing world leaders from 200 countries came to an agreement at the climate summit in Paris, otherwise known as the COP21. The final deal is meant to hammer out a solution to climate change.
Journalists from around the world huddled together in the anteroom on site to await news of the final deal.
One of the overjoyed reporters, environmental correspondent at The Economist Miranda Johnson, tweeted her experience, comparing it to the expense of “watching a major 2002 soccer match between England and Brazil.” Johnson later deleted the tweet.
“WE HAVE A #ParisAgreement,” she exulted in a tweet.

Johnson earlier in the day tweeted out a short video from the conference, writing “the magic is happening behind closed doors.”

The summit was crowded with members of the press and environmental activists, so it is possible the crowd seen in Johnson’s video includes non-press alongside reporters.
The agreement seeks to limits average global warming to 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial temperatures and strives for a limit of 1.5 degrees Celsius.
