Ben Carson Explains Donald Trump Apology, Calls His Comments ‘Inappropriate’

Republican 2016 presidential hopeful Ben Carson said he apologized to his primary rival Donald Trump over comments he made about his faith, saying his message was articulated “in an inappropriate way.”
The feud between the candidates stemmed after the billionaire real estate developer took offense to comments Carson made about his faith during a campaign rally last week.
“I said something that sounded like I was questioning his faith. I really wasn’t, I was really talking more about mine,” the former physician told The Wall Street Journal Monday. “But it was said in an inappropriate way, which I recognized and I apologized for that. It’s never my intention to impugn other people.”
Trump fired back at the retired neurosurgeon, saying he was an “OK doctor” and questioned his platform as a pro-life candidate.
Despite Carson staffers calling for the controversial businessman to return the apology, the Trump camp is standing by his statements.
“I fully think apologizing is a great thing,” the GOP frontrunner told Jimmy Fallon during an appearance on the “Tonight Show.” “But you have to be wrong. … I will absolutely apologize sometime in the hopefully distant future if I’m ever wrong.”
Carson said he plans to stick to talking about his policies instead of attacking his opponents during Wednesday’s CNN debate.
