Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina announced on Monday that he has no intention of working for President Donald Trump as the Attorney General in the future.

“Well, I’m going to run [for Senate] again — there ya go, you made news — I’m definitely running,” Graham told a reporter outside of a Pickens County GOP event. “I enjoy my job. I think I’m better at it today than I’ve ever been. I love my job. I love representing the people of our state.”

Rumors have been swirling that the South Carolina senator has his eyes set on the attorney general role following now-AG Jeff Sessions impending vacancy from the position. The buzz was reignited after Graham’s explosive speech during the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on the nomination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

“I have zero interest in serving in President Trump’s cabinet,” Graham continued. “I like him, I want to help him be successful. I think I can do more good for the country and help President Trump more effectively by being in the Senate and I will help him where I can and say no when I have to, and I’m going to continue to be South Carolina’s voice the best I know how to be.”

“I’m at a time in my life when I feel like all the things I’ve done before have made me the most effective in terms of representing the people in the state,” Graham said. “If they’ll have me, I’ll keep doing it.”
