Board certified medical doctor and diagnostic radiologist Nicole Saphier claimed a move towards a single-payer health care system will lead to higher taxes and a mass exodus from New York state, on “Fox & Friends” Thursday.

Saphier said New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s primary opponent, actress Cynthia Nixon, is proposing a far-left progressive plan that would increase tax burdens across the board for working families.

“Cynthia Nixon is running on the fact that [Cuomo] is not progressive enough,” she said. “One of the big differences is Governor Cuomo is a bit more pragmatic about implementing single-payer in New York saying, I don’t think we can afford it and that’s not the way to go.”

Saphier said Cuomo supports a federally funded single-payer system, while Nixon is lobbying to pass a state bill and wants to worry about New York’s finances later.

“What Cynthia Nixon is saying, it’s great. Because you’re going to be saving about 2 percent over the next 10 years when it comes to healthcare spending. However, they would have to double, over double these state tax burden,” Saphier declared. “If you did that, implemented that universally — a lot of people, specifically the lower- and middle-income people would suffer a lot.”

“You’re going to have people leaving New York and by the way, if that happens this all goes up in smoke,” she concluded. “All of a sudden, we really can’t afford it.”
