Study: America’s Political Climate Causing People To Lose Sleep

Thinking about the current political climate is causing millions of American to lose sleep, according to a study published Thursday.

One-in-seven Americans, or around 34 million people, are dealing with sleepless nights over the tense bipartisan political climate, Bankrate released.

The study was conducted by research firm Research firm GfK Custom Research, which polled 1,000 Americans to determine the results.

The study determined that baby boomers aged 54 to 63 are the most likely group to face insomnia over politics. The study revealed that 17 percent of Americans living in the Western United States are the most likely to lose sleep over politics. This compared to the Northeast with 16 percent and Southerners at only 9 percent.

Americans with a college degree are 20 percent more likely to miss sleep regarding politics compared to 9 percent of Americans without an advanced degree. Americans who make $75,000 a year are 16 percent more likely to deal with stress in regards to politics compared to the 7 percent of Americans that make less than $30,000 a year.

The study also found that 41 percent of Americans lose sleep at night based on thinking about relationships.
