MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough attacked ICE on “Morning Joe” Monday and said it has lost sight of its original mission under the leadership of President Donald Trump.

Scarborough called Trump’s immigration policies “nonsense” and said they aren’t driven by facts. He also criticized Trump’s supporters for showing enthusiasm about increasing America’s border security.

“Let’s talk about ICE right now. It seems that so much of the immigration debate, so much of Donald Trump’s schtick during the campaign, the crowd chanting, ‘build that wall, build that wall.’ It’s all nonsense. It’s not fact-driven.”

Scarborough claimed the immigration rate has been declining for over 10 years, then pivoted to family separation at the southern border to further criticize federal policy.

“We’ve talked about immigration rates plummeting, illegal immigration — for a decade now,” he concluded. “But one thing that is very real is what is now happening on the border with ICE and the separation of children. It seems that ICE has lost its focus on its primary mission, because they got a president pushing them to do certain things.”
