Over 80,000 people already signed a petition to remove “Flat Tummy Ads” for appetite suppressant lollipops from New York City Billboards at Times Square Monday.
Tess Holliday, 33, a plus size body positive activist, started a petition for Flat Tummy Co. to take down their appetite suppressant lollipop advertisements, receiving over 80,000 signatures Monday. The Flat Tummy Lollipops are advertised as 35 calories and are designed to suppress a consumer’s appetite with SATIEREAL, a chemical found in plant extracts, according to Flat Tummy’s website. Holliday called the ads “dangerous” and wants to reach 150,000 signatures on the petition to get the billboards removed.
“Got cravings? Girl, tell them to #suckit,” the billboard reads.

“As a fat woman, I can’t tell you the number of people who’ve told me that I should stop eating, or eat less. Or the number of people who’ve treated me terribly because of my size. We need to stop telling women and girls that they are only worth how skinny they are,” Holliday wrote on the petition.
“There is something deeply wrong when marketers tell women that their appearance (based on sexist body standards) is more important than their health and survival,” she added.
Holliday, author of “The Not So Subtle Art of Being a Fat Girl” was also featured on the cover women’s fitness magazine “Self” which debuted in June.
