Air Force One To Get A Makeover

President Donald Trump wants to give Air Force One a bolder, more patriotic look, which may include a new red, white and blue paint job.
Trump struck a deal with Boeing in February for a $3.9 billion fixed price contract over a new Air Force One program, saving the tax payers an estimated $1.4 billion from the original total cost. The president has been heavily involved in the discussions regarding the airplane’s modernization, including the new design, reported CNN. However, there have been no finite decisions made yet.
Air Force One has been its iconic “luminous ultramarine” blue and white since it was designed in part by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1962.
The paint change may cause friction with the Air Force; top officials prefer the current look since it is already “known around the world,” according to Axios who first reported the president’s desired change.
The new Air Force One planes are expected to be ready for use by 2021, in time for Trump’s possible second term in office.
