State Drops Charges Against Stormy Daniels After Arrest In Strip Club

Charges against porn star Stormy Daniels were dropped on Thursday, according to a tweet posted by her attorney Michael Avenatti of the motion to dismiss.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was performing at Sirens Adult Entertainment Club when she was arrested for allegedly allowing several patrons, including the police officers who arrested her, to put their face in her breasts and for fondling other female club goers, which is against state law, according to the police report from the Columbus Police Department.

Daniels was charged with three counts of “Illegally Operating Sexually Oriented Business — Employee Knowingly Touch Any Patron.” Ohio law states that “no employee who regularly appears nude or seminude on the premises of a sexually oriented business, while on the premises of that sexually oriented business and while nude or seminude, shall knowingly touch a patron who is not a member of the employee’s immediate family.”

Columbus Police later said her arrest was “part of a long-term investigation into allegations of human trafficking, prostitution, and other vice-related violations.”

The state dismissed the case against Daniels on Thursday after Avenatti filed a motion claiming that his client had only performed at Sirens Club on July 11, the day of her arrest. She was scheduled to perform again on July 12, but her appearance was canceled due to her arrest. Because of that, Avenatti argued that there was no evidence that Daniels had broken the law, because she was not a regular customer, and had only performed one time at the club.
