A California man suspected of driving drunk, used his flaming car to light his cigarette Sunday after rear-ending an SUV.
Amy Walker of California Highway Patrol said the 25-year-old suspect, Robert Quigley, rear-ended the SUV while they two were stopped in traffic on Interstate 80, Fox News reported. Authorities say Quigley was going almost 80 miles per hour at the time of the accident.
Police saw the car explode into flames and doubled back to assist. While they were coming to help, they say Quigley try to switch seats with a female passenger, according to Fox News. He reportedly admitted to being the driver after he was questioned.
WATCH:
A witness told the police that Quigley was shirtless when he decided to light his cigarette with the flames from his car and singed off part of his eyebrows in the process, according to Walker.
“Yeah I’m not afraid of fire. I deal with this kind of stuff all the time,” Quigley told the officer on the scene.
He was charged on suspicion of DUI and was booked in the Sacramento County Main Jail.
