Romney Hasn’t Made Up His Mind On Trump 2020

Utah Republican Senate candidate Mitt Romney declined to say whether or not he would endorse President Donald Trump in his run for the 2020 presidency.

“It’s too early to say who I will support,” Romney told MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt on Sunday evening when asked whom he will vote for during the next presidential election.

Romney previously predicted Trump would win both the 2020 Republican nomination and presidential election in a speech he gave in June, a point which he reiterated.

“Yes, I did say I think he’ll get reelected. That’s not an endorsement,” Romney said. “I mean, I also think that Gavin Newsome will get elected in California. That’s not something I want to see, that’s just something that’s probably going to happen.”

Trump and the 2012 presidential candidate have had a tumultuous relationship in the past. During the 2016 election, Romney referred to Trump as a “phony” and criticized his policies, arguing that his foreign policy was “reckless in the extreme” and his economic policy would result in “a prolonged recession.”

Romney has also applauded the president, saying his first year in office is “very similar to things I’d have done in my first year,” according to The Hill. Trump considered Romney for his secretary of state in December 2017.
