The Daily Caller visited the Lockheed Martin corporation in Arlington, Virginia, to see what it’s like to fly the F-35 Lightning II, 5th Generation fighter jet, in the eighth episode of “Reporter Vs.”

“Reporter Vs.” is a web series where TheDC puts its reporters into the shoes of professionals who face challenges that are unimaginable to a pencil-pushing member of the fourth estate. At most news outlets, reporters might be afraid to try — and fail — at a new task, but not at TheDC. Daily Caller journalists have no problem filming reporters’ fails and then broadcasting them to the rest of the world. If there is such a thing as blue-collar journalism, it would probably look something like TheDC’s “Reporter Vs.” series.

Editor Leah Jessen and reporter Hanna Bogorowski experienced what it takes to fly the world’s most advanced aircraft, and just how strong military pilots’ focus, and stomachs, have to be.

After getting an in-depth tour of the private Lockheed Martin Fighter Demonstration Center, Leah and Hanna hopped into the cockpit demonstrator and took off.

The multi-million dollar flight simulator is a video gamer’s dream, comprised of a real cockpit and radar system and a large screen that encompasses the view with real-life footage.

While in the air, they learned to do flips and nosedives, but also how to drop the surface-to-air missiles (SAM) on their targets and enemies.

Stay tuned for the next episode of “Reporter Vs.” and subscribe to The Daily Caller YouTube channel to never miss out on the action.
