Nationally syndicated radio host Mark Levin said President Donald Trump should appoint a constitutionalist to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy and then scolded liberals for their views on the high court.
“Let’s take a look at this. The kind of person you want on the Supreme Court no matter what party you are in is somebody who will uphold the Constitution, right? Who will try to interpret the Constitution the way the framers intended,” Levin said on “Fox & Friends” Friday. “That is a constitutionalist. Not a liberal, not a conservative — a constitutionalist.”
Levin called out liberals like Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris of California and MSNBC host Chris Matthews by name and said their view of the court system is perverted.
“If you’re a statist, that is, a leftist like Kamala Harris, like Chris Matthews — like all the others you mentioned, that’s not what you want,” Levin concluded. “They don’t view the Supreme Court as this body that is supposed to function within the Constitution. They view it almost like a politburo, where they went to control members who are on the politburo, so the politburo can control society.”
