Report: Megyn Kelly’s Show In Danger

Megyn Kelly might find her show in another time slot if it continues having lousy ratings, Page Six reported Monday.

NBC executives are considering moving “Megyn Kelly Today” an hour later and replacing it with an hour of the “Today” show featuring Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, according to the report.

“It’s the smart move,” said an insider to Page Six. “At the very least that limits the damage already done to Hoda and Kathie Lee — maybe with a strong lead-in from ‘Today’ at 9 a.m., they’ll even pick up some of the viewers they lost since Megyn went on the air.”

Since airing, Kelly’s show has struggled immensely to attract viewers. Kelly’s audience dropped 32 percent from a year earlier and it is having a damaging ripple effect on other NBC programming, according to Page Six.

Kelly joining NBC was a major gamble for the network. The former Fox News host signed a massive three-year $69 million contract in January 2017.

Despite her struggles, NBC has remained loyal to Kelly — at least publicly. NBC Chairman Andy Lack defended hiring her. “Megyn has continued to prove that she’s a tremendously skilled, hard-hitting journalist, who adds valuable insight and analysis to all she touches,” he said in April.
