Pharma Company Recalls Birth Control Pills Across The Country Over Fears Of Placebos

Allergan pharmaceutical company recalled thousands of packs of birth control pill Taytulla Tuesday after mixing up the order of the placebo and the hormonal.

The mix-up, which affected 170,000 physician sample packs, put placebo pills at the beginning of the package and the medicated pills at the end. Taking the pills in this order could lead to unintended pregnancy.

“Allergan recently identified, through a physician report, that a single sample pack of TAYTULLA contained four placebo capsules placed out of order,” a company spokeswoman told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The out-of-order packages have been in circulation since August. No unintended pregnancies have been reported as a result of the error, Allergan told the Wall Street Journal.

Allergan attributed the mix-up to a packing error. The error “may not be apparent” to users, the company wrote in a Tuesday press release.
