Bill De Blasio Calls New York Times Reporting ‘Disgusting’

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio sounded quite Trumpian in an e-mail to a New York Times reporter Thursday, blasting a story in a paper as “disgusting.”

The criticism came after a story in The Gray Lady questioned the mayor’s new education program that increases funding for programs like reading specialists and advanced placement classes. One of the issues The Times noted with De Blasio’s program was whether this funding was sustainable. (RELATED: BILL DE BLASIO GAVE JUST $350 TO CHARITY LAST YEAR)

“I think this is disgusting,” de Blasio said about the story’s skepticism of his program.

“We need to figure out a new paradigm with The Times. This level of bias can’t be ignored. Either starve them or reason with them or something else — but this is ridiculous,” he continued, according to a tweet by The Times’ City Hall reporter J. David Goodman.

De Blasio has long attacked local journalists for their coverage of his administration. Just today, he called the idea that the Daily News might cease printing operations under new ownership as potentially “good for us” and it could “hasten the demise of The [New York] Post.”
