CNN’s Chris Cuomo And Jim Jordan Throw Down Over Russia Collusion Claims

Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio went head to head with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on “New Day” Wednesday, after Cuomo claimed there was “proof of potential collusion” between Russia and the Trump campaign.

Jordan claimed the federal government lied when it obtained Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants to spy on the Trump campaign and said it relied on a false dossier to prop up its case.

“They did disclose where the dossier came from. It is not all false allegations in that dossier,” Cuomo shot back. “You know this to be the case even though you have never seen the FISA application yourself.”

“Here we are a year and a half later — not one bit of evidence of any type of collusion, any type of coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia,” Jordan responded.

Cuomo then accused Jordan of lying and said his assertion was blatantly false. “Jim, that is demonstrably false,” Cuomo replied.

Jordan looked shocked and said even Democrats have admitted the case for collusion is beginning to fall apart.

“Even Democrats are saying that,” Jordan said. “Even The New York Times said that last week, Chris.”

Cuomo was undeterred and claimed there was “tons of evidence” of possible collusion.

“Talking over me does not silence the point. They have to come out. We have to have this conversation so people who think independently can make decisions,” Cuomo said. “There is tons of proof of potential collusion.”

Cuomo also defended the FISA apparatus and said it was created as a way to prevent secret surveillance.

“But FISA as a tool was created by Congress to make sure you don’t have secret surveillance,” he continued. “That process in and of itself is a safeguard.”

“Now you’re filibustering,” Jordan replied. “Potential collusion is not collusion. That’s proving my point. There is no collusion.”
