Indonesian police gunned down four Islamic State swordsman Wednesday who killed one officer in the latest incident in a series of recent Islamic militant attacks.

The attack began when five men rammed a minivan into a police headquarters in Sumatra on Wednesday, killing one officer and wounding two others, according to The Associated Press. Police prevented the minivan from progressing, and four of the men inside exited and attacked officers with swords. Officers on the scene shot the swordsmen and arrested the driver of the van while he attempted to escape.

“When the car broke through into the Riau police headquarters, it was blocked by policemen,” police spokesman Setyo Wasisto told a news conference, according to The AP. “Then four of the men got out from the car and attacked police.”

Police said they are also searching for a sixth man who they believe was involved in the attack. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack through its Aamaq News Agency as it did for the Sunday and Monday suicide bombings carried out by two families in Surabaya. The family of six that bombed three churches and the family of five that subsequently bombed a police station are believed to have been members of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah, a radical Islamic terror group directly affiliated with ISIS.

The suicide bombings killed 26 people, the 13 attackers included. The terrorists used children as young as seven in their suicide attacks.

Wasisto said authorities identified the men involved in the latest attack as “members of an IS-affiliated group of NII,” meaning Negara Islam Indonesia, sometimes called Darul Islam. The terrorist group intends to establish an Islamic state in Indonesia.
