A pregnant Pakistani singer was gunned down Tuesday at close range by a disgruntled attendee at a wedding ceremony, local police revealed Thursday.
Samina Samoon, a 24-year-old artist who was six months pregnant, was shot at point-blank range while singing at a performance in southern Sindh province. A drunken guest reportedly decided to end her life after she initially refused to stand and dance while she sang.

Samoon started her performance sitting down. She eventually rose from her seat and sang while guests tossed money her way. It was at that point a man identified as Tarique Ahmed Jatoi pulled out a revolver and shot her in the head, police revealed to multiple outlets.

She was taken to Chandka Medical College Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have arrested the suspect, who Samoon’s husband believes should be charged with double homicide, as Jatoi allegedly murdered both the young artist and her child.
