George P. Bush Wins Election For Texas Land Commissioner Amid Trump Endorsement

Texas’s land commissioner George P. Bush won the Republican primary Tuesday night after receiving an endorsement from President Donald Trump.

Bush, the son of Jeb Bush, beat former Texas land commissioner Jerry Patterson in the Tuesday primary, receiving over 58 percent of the vote by 10 p.m., avoiding a run-0ff. The win comes after Trump endorsed him just over a week before the election, declaring Bush as “Trump’s Man in Texas.

Bush raised more than $1.5 million in the year before the election, while his opponent only raised $107,588. After receiving more than 50 percent of the vote, Bush thanked his supporters for their “steadfast support” on Twitter.

The current Texas land commissioner, will now be running against energy and natural resources attorney Miguel Suazo, who easily won the Democratic primary with close to 70 percent of the vote.
