MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough continued bashing President Donald Trump Monday, accusing him of “lying for sport” on “Morning Joe.”
Scarborough was interviewing Mike Allen, executive editor of Axios, about Trump’s agreement to speak with special counsel Robert Mueller when he made the accusation.
“[Trump] said, ‘oh I’m happy to talk to Mueller’– there was a freak out in the West Wing. Forget the conservative media, specifically among the president’s lawyers,” Allen said. “Axios is reporting that many people around the president believe he is, as you were suggesting slightly different words, incapable of telling a story that he can stick to and that they know will be accurate. We know President Trump …”
Scarborough then interrupted Allen to call Trump a liar and said the president has lost his grip on reality.
“I’ll say it for you. Incapable of telling the truth,” Scarborough said. “Sometimes [Trump] just lies for the sport of it and you can look at every interview he does. He just wanders in and out of reality.”
Allen agreed with Scarborough and claimed the White House is going through a “perjury panic.”
“We know he creates his own reality. People have talked about that magic crayon that he uses to create history as he would like it to be. But we know that he doesn’t stick to a particular story. He doesn’t like to prep,” Allen concluded. “We think it will be mid to late February before they figure out what they’re going to recommend to the special counsel, but meanwhile in the west wing you have this perjury panic. People know that this could well end in tears.”
