Trump Explains Why He’s America’s ‘Cheerleader’ To World Leaders In Davos

President Donald Trump concluded his address to the World Economic Forum in Davos Friday by referring to himself as America’s “cheerleader,” specifically in how he views his role as president.

“I think I’ve been a cheerleader for our country and everybody representing a company or a country has to be a cheerleader or no matter what you do, or it’s just not going to work. And the reason I’m a cheerleader is because it’s easy, because I love our country, and I just think we’re doing very well,” Trump said.

Trump pivoted to his role as a “cheerleader” spontaneously before concluding the question and answer portion of the event, telling the crowd that he focused on the theme during a meeting with leaders Thursday night.

Trump’s address focused on framing his “America first” policy in relation to international cooperation, reassuring the world and industry leaders that “America first does not mean America alone” after describing the economic growth experienced since his inauguration.
