Student’s Answer To First Grade Question Is Way Deeper Than The Correct One

When a first grade teacher in California presented his class with a logical puzzle, the answer one student gave him was decidedly much deeper than the “correct” answer, according to a Tuesday tweet.

Bret Turner, a teacher at Head-Royce School in Oakland, Calif., asked students to answer the riddle: “I am the beginning of everything, the end of everywhere. I’m the beginning of eternity, the end of time and space. What am I?” reported The Washington Post.

Turner was thinking of the letter “E,” however, one student answered “death.”

“Such an awed, somber, reflective hush fell over the class that I didn’t want to tell them that actually the answer is the letter ‘e,’ which just seemed so banal in the moment,” Turner tweeted.

“Before I finally revealed the ‘correct’ answer to the riddle, to a largely unimpressed audience, I fielded other guesses that continued along a similarly existential vein,” he added.
