Gruesome body camera footage and pictures show the result of a Minnesota police officer hitting a deer at 100 miles per hour while responding to an emergency call Saturday.
The Isanti County sheriff’s office praised the deputy for not swerving after the impact in a Tuesday Facebook post. Police released photos showing the patrol vehicle covered in gore with the hood smashed into the windshield, and Fox 9 obtained body camera footage of the impact.
WATCH:
“It looks like deer hunting season started early for this deputy,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook. “The deputy did a great job of just getting on the brakes and keeping it in his lane, even though the hood went into his windshield. It goes to show how dangerous deer strikes can be, but this also shows how important it is to NOT swerve when an animal strike is going to occur.”
