Conway Calls For More Bipartisan Reflection Amid 9/11 Anniversary

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said Americans are “starving” for political solutions and called on lawmakers to embrace 9/11 as a day of bipartisan “reflection” Monday on “Fox and Friends.”

“Whether it’s hurricane recovery, reflecting on 9/11. Thinking of all these nonpartisan issues, starving for bipartisan moments of reflection and solution. Today is a good day for that,” Conway told “Fox and Friends” Monday. “We always remember, we will never forget those who lose their lives that day and their families. They’re enshrined in our hearts forever. But we should also remember all the acts of heroism, and camaraderie that sprung up because, the post-9/11 camaraderie seems to be wanting these days.”

Conway said the same bipartisan approach must be taken with Hurricane Irma adding, President Donald Trump is “committed” to helping those displaced by the storm.

“The president is committed to helping all of those affected … he’s committed to going to Florida but the president makes very clear that he will go to Florida, and other affected areas if and when people closer on the ground say it’s good to go. And that he’s not interfering with the rescue efforts and the recovery efforts,” she said.

Conway said the main concern right now is to support the Irma survivors and remind them they have the full support of the federal government.

“Right now we’re talking about lives and those who are suffering and the survivors. And that we will be there for them,” she said. “Now is when some of the tough work begins for many people.”

Conway said even those who are against big government are relieved the administration can help during this crisis, providing relief to those who need it.

“Even those who are big critics of the role of big government in our lives — how intrusive, invasive, expensive, and expansive it can be — people like the fact that the government is there in times like this,” she concluded.
