Former General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt announced Sunday that he will not take the reigns as chief executive of Uber.

“I have decided not to pursue a leadership position at Uber. I have immense respect for the company & founders – Travis, Garrett and Ryan,” Immelt tweeted Sunday.

Immelt met in person with a few members of Uber’s board Saturday, and was one of three people being vetted for the CEO job. HP Enterprise CEO Meg Whitman and another unnamed person are reportedly the other 2 candidates.

The board is expected to vote Sunday on who will become the next chief executive. Whichever candidate the board chooses will be the person to usher the company into the post-Travis Kalanick era.
