Filling in for Chris Mathews on MSNBC’s Hardball Friday, Joy Reid bungled the reading of a President Trump tweet announcing Reince Priebus is no longer his chief of staff.
Reid read Trump’s tweet announcing his new chief as Secretary of Homeland Security General John Kelly.
I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General/Secretary John F Kelly as White House Chief of Staff. He is a Great American….
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 28, 2017
The fill-in host breezed through the first 12 words of the tweet, but tripped on unlucky No. 13.
WATCH:
“I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General secret … General secret … a-r-y John F. Kelly … ” Reid read, quoting the tweet.
She was then able to correct the mistake.
“General secretary, sorry, John F. Kelly as the new Chief of Staff … ” she said.
