Police Suggest Asking Pronouns, Share Gender-Neutral Pronoun Guide

A police department suggested people should ask others their preferred personal pronouns Wednesday, sharing a chart with nontraditional pronouns like “they/them/their” and “ze/hir/hir.”
Halton Regional Police in Canada made the suggestion via Twitter, attaching a “Handy Guide to Pronouns.”
“If you’re not sure what pronoun somebody uses, just ask,” said the police. “What are your preferred pronouns?”

The attached pronoun guide includes traditional pronouns like “he/his/him” and “she/her/her,” as well as atypical pronouns like “ze/hir/hir,” “ze/zem/zir,” “they/their/them,” “and “ey/eir/em.”
