A fierce critic of Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who is also Maryland’s junior Democratic senator is a recurring recipient of Big Pharma contributions, Federal Election Commission records show.
Following Democrats’ sweeping victory in the 2026 midterm elections, Sen. Angela Alsobrooks took to social media and targeted the official in President Donald Trump’s Cabinet. “The time is now. RFK Jr. must resign or be fired. End of discussion,” she posted to X on Wednesday.

When Alsobrooks previously questioned Kennedy at a May 2025 hearing about assisted reproductive technology, she suggested she did not know the NIH and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services were both part of the Department of Health and Human Services.
“Is that a part of the NIH?” Kennedy asked Alsobrooks, who replied, “No, it’s a part of your agency.”
Notably, Alsobrooks received contributions from more than a dozen Pharma-funded political action committees (PAC), Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show.
The senator received 21% of her 2026 campaign’s $1.4 million political donations from health and pharmaceutical sources, according to U.S. Wealth Watcher. A PAC of employees from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer is the largest listed contributor to Alsobrooks, having donated $10,000.
Alsobrooks also reportedly took $5,500 from the Johnson and Johnson PAC. FEC records show she also received thousands of dollars from dozens of biopharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including $5,000 from Astra Zeneca, $5,000 from AbbVie, and $3,500 from Biotechnology Innovation.
