At a tense inflection point in the Iran War, the Daily Caller News Foundation hosted a debate on the following question: “Is involvement in the war with Iran in America’s best interest?”

WATCH:

The Trump administration says the U.S. has obliterated Iranian nuclear sites and sunk or damaged over 150 Iranian vessels. But air strikes have not secured all of the U.S.’s desired aims, most crucially reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Media reports indicate the administration is weighing two options: A diplomatic retreat or American boots on the ground.

Blaise Misztal is the vice president for policy at JINSA — a think tank that advocates for a robust U.S.-Israel security relationship — where he focuses on Iran and its nuclear program among other topics.

Misztal argued that the U.S.’s strategic disadvantages stem from procrastination by prior administrations to take on the regime, and that the war is long overdue to secure Americans from Islamic terror and the fanatical leadership’s nuclear ambitions.

Curt Mills is the Executive Director of The American Conservative. His work has appeared in the New York Times, Politico, UnHerd, Newsweek, Washington Examiner, the Spectator and many other outlets.

Mills countered that the war in Iran has ill-defined objectives, betrays the promises of Trump’s 2024 reelection and represents a catastrophic drag on American resources and credibility.
