Iran War Tanks Americans’ View Of Israel As An Ally

New polling data suggests that a majority of American voters believe Israel is not an ally.

Only 33% of American voters believe Israel is an ally, a Napolitan News Service survey states. One in five American voters also believe that Israel is an enemy, according to the polling data.

Twenty-five percent fewer poll respondents view Israel as an ally compared to early March, when the second engagement of the Iran War began, the Napolitan News Service survey states. The question asking whether Israel is an enemy shifted upward by 8 percentage points.

Fewer than half of Democrats and Republicans polled now agree that Israel is an ally, with 20% Democrats and 49% Republicans answering affirmatively.

Opinions of Israel have been declining globally, according to a Pew Research Center survey of 24 countries. “The United Kingdom, for example, 44% had an unfavorable view of Israel in 2013, compared with 61% now,” according to the Pew Research Center.

Opinions of other U.S. adversaries improved since the conflict began, the poll shows. The belief that Iran, Russia and China are enemies dropped in the polls by roughly 15 percentage points across the board.

However, the data suggest that Americans are still largely united in the belief that Iran, Russia and China are not allies. Less than 12% of the polling bloc stated in their answers that any of the nations are allies, according to the polling data.

“This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, May 11-12, 2026,” according to Napolitan News Service.

All data from this poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, according to Napolitan News Service.

“From the very beginning of Operation Epic Fury, President Trump stated this would be a four-to-six-week military operation to dismantle the military threat posed by the radical Islamic Iranian regime,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, according to a White House press release. The war in Iran has lasted over 10 weeks, nearly double the predicted duration.

A ceasefire was declared on April 8 by Trump. However, the U.S. military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have attacked each other since the ceasefire began.
