Dan Abrams Wants Trump To Answer Three Questions To Explain Attack On Pope (Screenshot/Youtube/PiersMorganUncensored)
SiriusXM host Dan Abrams on Monday asked why President Donald Trump criticized Pope Leo XIV and urged him to clarify his intentions.
Trump sparked backlash after posting a seemingly AI-generated image on Truth Social depicting himself in a Jesus-like pose healing a patient following his criticism of Pope Leo XIV. Appearing on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Abrams repeatedly asked about Trump’s goal.
“What is the goal? It’s sort of similar to what we were talking about with regard to Iran. What is the goal? What are you trying to achieve? Why are you doing it?” Abrams asked Morgan. “You can disagree. You can be mad at him. You can be upset. There’s a way to deal with it. And putting aside all of the religious side that John has talked about, even from a human and political perspective, you have to ask yourself, ‘Why is he doing it?'”
Abrams said people can disagree with the Pope’s positions without launching personal attacks, arguing that Trump did not need to describe the pontiff as “weak” or turn the exchange into a broader political statement.

“The question becomes why, right? Why would he do this? And look, you’ll have some people on the right who will say, ‘Well, we disagree with what the Pope says. Well, we support the president’s actions, and the Pope doesn’t.’ OK. But that doesn’t mean you gotta go after the Pope. Right?” Abrams asked. “You can disagree with the things that he’s saying and not call him weak and then make it all about himself, this idea that, ‘Oh, the Pope only got his job because of me.’ He’s talking about the stock market in this response to the Pope.”
The image Trump posted first appeared on conservative commentator Nick Adams’ X account on Feb. 4, where it drew swift backlash online, with users calling it disrespectful and offensive. Trump later removed the post on Monday morning after criticism intensified, including objections from some members of his own party.
Before sharing the image, Trump escalated his criticism of the Pope in a Sunday night Truth Social post, calling the pontiff “weak” on crime and “terrible” on foreign policy while also accusing Leo of ignoring past COVID-era restrictions on religious services. Leo responded on Monday, telling reporters that the Vatican’s stance on peace stems from its religious mission and stating that he would not be deterred by potential political backlash.
