Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman criticized former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday for labeling President Donald Trump “the worst thing on the face of the Earth” during a CNN interview.

Pelosi made the remark on “The Story Is with Elex Michaelson,” also calling Trump “a vile creature” in a preview clip posted to X on Monday. Fetterman, on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum,” retorted by pointing to figures he considers more odious than Trump and calling Pelosi’s comment inappropriate.

“I would say that’s part of the worst creatures on the face of the earth are Hamas or like the leadership of Iran or there’s a lot of people on that,” Fetteman said. “I would never use those kind of terms and I wouldn’t describe our president.”

“You can really disagree with him and I do disagree, but I don’t think that’s really entirely appropriate. But that’s her words for that,” he continued. “So for me, that’s just a different kinds of a Democrat for me.”

Fetterman has frequently clashed with his party on issues pertaining to Israel since its war with Hamas began on Oct. 7, 2023. Trump brokered the first phase of a peace deal between Israel and Hamas in October, which included the release of all the hostages taken by the terrorist organization during its 2023 attack.

Fetterman also said on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” Monday that he refused to demonize his opposition and said Democrats lose credibility when they resort to calling their opponents “fascists.”

“I’m not gonna call you a fascist or a Nazi. I’m not gonna compare anyone to Hitler or anything. That’s wrong. And if you resort to that thing, you’ve lost the plot,” he said on Monday. “Because if you call him [Trump] a fascist then you have to think ‘Well, maybe the people that vote for him — and I know people that love him — are fascists.’ That’s just not true. And I know people that voted for the other side, and they’re not trying to destroy our Constitution.”
