Whoopi Goldberg Says With Straight Face It Is ‘Pure Fascism’ For Trump To Deport Illegal Immigrants

“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said on Monday that it is “pure fascism” for President Donald Trump’s administration to arrest and deport illegal immigrants.

Goldberg raged at the Trump administration for deporting people with overstayed visas, and compared the U.S. government’s right to deport non-citizens who violate the nation’s immigration laws to fascism. She told her viewers that these people should have a right to stay in the U.S. if they don’t want to return home since they simply moved for a better life.

“So, what is it? Are we about states’ rights, are we about keeping people in or out, are you out because you got here in a different way because you fled the nation you live in and maybe you were able to get in and maybe you’re trying to stay and doing it right and you’re still getting thrown out? So what is it?” Goldberg complained. “Is this just pure fascism that’s happening? Is this what’s going on?”

“Well there’s indications of fascism,” co-host Sunny Hostin, who graduated from law school, replied.

Goldberg said that while Americans want the “bad people” out of the U.S., people just need to accept that illegal immigrants “are here for a reason” and do not just leave their home countries to live in America.

“That doesn’t sound like America to me. That’s not the America I know. Yeah, we want to get rid of the bad people. Everybody wants that. But we all have to recognize that some people got here in the strangest, craziest ways but they’re here for a reason,” Goldberg said. “People don’t just leave everything they know to come here … We have to remember that we try to get people in, we try to help. This is not helping, this is hindering.”

The co-host referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids throughout Los Angeles, California, and Trump’s recent travel ban on 12 countries including Afghanistan, Chad and Republic of the Congo. The raids in Los Angeles have sparked wide-scale riots in the streets, where rioters have burned cars and thrown Molotov cocktails.

The riots erupted on Friday in response to ICE arresting at least 44 illegal immigrants earlier that day. Among those arrested in Los Angeles were foreign nationals convicted of heinous crimes that include second degree murder, assault with intent to commit rape, grand theft larceny and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which referred to those arrested as the “worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens.”

Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian national who overstayed his visa, is accused of using a makeshift flamethrower and Molotov cocktails to attack a pro-Israel demonstration held in Boulder, Colorado, on June 2.

Border czar Tom Homan told NBC News on Sunday that the immigration enforcement operations will continue throughout the U.S. and that no government official will stand in their way. He disputed reports that he called for Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s arrest during a Monday appearance on “Morning Joe,” arguing that he said no government official is above the law.
