Fox News host Harris Faulkner on Friday shut down a Democratic strategist’s attempt to dodge a question about who ran the White House during then-President Joe Biden’s administration.

Biden and his wife, former first lady Jill Biden, appeared on “The View” Thursday, during which Biden disputed accounts in recently-released books alleging he suffered from cognitive decline. Faulkner turned to Democratic strategist Fred Hicks and asked him who was in charge, referencing the award given to Axios reporter Alex Thompson at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

“Fred, who was running the White House? Clearly, we can see now Democrats are coming forth,” Faulkner said. “Look at the White House Correspondents Dinner as you saw an Axios reporter there got an award because he actually was writing about this. It was a cover-up and I want to know who was running the country. Do you know?”

“Listen, what we know is we had tremendous job growth, we actually made tremendous economic growth,” Hicks said, with Faulkner responding, “Oh, wow.”

A Wall Street Journal article published Dec. 19, 2024, revealed White House aides “insulated” Biden, even from Cabinet members, as his health declined, months after similar articles published by outlet earlier in the year generated pushback from some media outlets

“We were able to undo four years of Trumpism and cut inflation down,” Hicks said before Faulkner cut in to correct the record on the spot.

“Wait a minute, Trump had 1.4% inflation at the end of his first term,” Faulkner told Hicks. “Biden took it up to more than 9%. It’s okay if you don’t want to answer my questions but you can’t have your own facts, okay?”

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) hit a four-decade high of 9% in June 2022, after Biden signed multiple spending initiatives into law, including the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, despite warnings that it could cause inflation to go up.
