Former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards passed away Monday at the age of 67, according to NBC News.
Richards had been battling glioblastoma, an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer, since 2023. The abortion activist was responsible for overseeing at least 3.8 million abortions during her 12 years as Planned Parenthood’s president, according to Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America.
“This morning our beloved Cecile passed away at home, surrounded by her family and her ever-loyal dog, Ollie,” Richards’ family told NBC. “Our hearts are broken today but no words can do justice to the joy she brought to our lives”.
In November 2024, President Joe Biden awarded Richards with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award, for her “courage” and fearlessness in leading America towards being “a nation of freedom” through her work with the abortion provider.
Today, I had the honor of awarding Cecile Richards the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
With absolute courage, she fearlessly leads us forward to be the America we say we are – a nation of freedom.

Richards stepped down from her role as head of Planned Parenthood in 2018 after a federal investigation revealed the organization was allegedly illegally harvesting and selling parts from aborted babies. The former Planned Parenthood president previously advocated for women “to be bold” in announcing their abortions and to encourage other women to do the same.
